In the light of the brouhaha over the Nigeria Basketball Federation’s election, the federation has resolved to postpone the 2021 NBBF election slated for Saturday, 30th of October in Benin City.
After an extraordinary congress held on Thursday, 28th of October, 2021 to discuss the suspension of the election by the Ministry of Youth And Sports Development, the congress concour that resolving unsettled matters is in the extended interest of the sport in Nigeria.
The congress chaired by Engr Ahmadu Musa Kida, reprove the Congress to respect the advice of the FMY&S to postpone the Elective Congress so that all apprehensions raised for a successful elections 2021- 2025 is sorted out.
11 states were absent from the congress with those present unanimously agreeing to postpone the Elective congress by a few weeks.
Engr Kida was given the mandate to engage the FMY&SD in a positive discussion for a free, fair, transparent and successful elections to bring in a new Board.
A vote of confidence was also passed on the NBBF President, Engr Ahmadu Musa Kida for the unequalled milestones recorded under his watch since coming on board in 2017.
The extraordinary congress thanked the Honourable Minister, Chief Sunday Dare and his team for their resolute support for the NBBF board as they look forward to a better working relationship between the NBBF and the Government.
