Nasarawa State para athletes have emerged 2nd overall best after excelling at the just concluded F.C.T., Abuja, Zonal Para-athletics Competition held at the training pitch of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Saturday, 23rd October, 2021.
The team won a total of twenty medals, made up of nine gold, eight silver and three bronze, respectively, to finish behind boundary neighbours, Benue State, at the one day event.
The medalists include Bamaiyi Hosea F57, Class 2(1 gold); Raphael Lorkohol F44 Class(won three gold medals in Javelin, Shotput and Discuss); Onje Wado( 2 gold medals in 100m and 200m); Agidi Vincent T11(2 silver medals in 100m and 200m); Gideon Galaxy(1 gold medal each in the 200m F58 Blind and 100m); and Rukaiya Haruna(2 silver medals in the 100m and 200m).
Others are Jumai Longleng(three silver medals in F57 Class, Javelin, Shotput and Discuss); and Hamisu Musa F47 Long Jump ( 1 Silver and 2 bronze medals in the 100m and 200m).
The Nasarawa State contingent was led by Coaches Vitalis Lanshima and Tunde David, with the assistance of Patricia Oshuwayine, Secretary, Nasarawa State Para-athletics Association.
Plateau State came third at the end of activities.
