Acting Commanding Officer of the Admin Battalion, Nigerian Army University of Biu, Major JulIus Usman has reconstructed and commissioned the Largema Abogo cantonment volleyball court in Borno state.
Major Usman made this development known to newsmen in Borno state on Tuesday.
Patron Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Spikers revealed that junior and senior teams have been formed basically from the barracks.
He said, “The barracks is our community and that is where we have the bulk of our soldier’s Children. We are making effort to harness the potential there and provide a platform that will give them a future in volleyball.
“The volleyball court in Largema Abogo cantonment, Biu and we commissioned it today sir. We also inaugurated our volleyball senior team and the barracks kids academy to commence training.
The Secretary General, Nigeria Volleyball Referees Association (NVRA) said, “There are potential players but there is no awareness; the kids in the barracks have the tendency of making the nation proud”.
