Lagos SWAN has announced that the 2021 edition of the Lagos SWAN Sports Week is to commence on December 3rd, 2021.
In a statement released to the media, the SWAN Sports Week returns after the Covid-19 pandemic, didn’t allow for the 2020 edition to be hosted. This year’s edition is scheduled to hold at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Femi Solaja, a member of the Lagos SWAN Sports Committee, confirmed the date after due consultation with the Executive Committee of the association.
The event will kick-off on Friday, December 3rd while the closing ceremony and Gala Night will be on December 10th.
“We have been working for weeks with the Lagos SWAN Excos to host this year’s edition of the Sports Week, COVID19 denied us last year and we are excited that finally, we are able to move on with our lives and our programmes.”
Solaja says the 2021 edition will be all inclusive as more events are included in the week-long fanfare to motivate wider participation.
“We encourage our colleagues to participate in the Sports Week, it’s an opportunity to engage ourselves, solidify our relationship and have fun. It won’t be about football alone, we will be having indoor games.”
“We are looking forward to our veterans participating, the younger generation will learn a lot from them. We have made this announcement early, for our media houses to prepare for the Sports Week”, Solaja concluded.
Sports that will feature in this year’s edition are; Football, Chess, Scrabble and Table Tennis.
Registration for the football event and other sports will start on November 3rd and close on November 17th.
While the Screening exercise for the SWAN Week will commence on November, 18 to November, 24.
The sponsors and partners of the Lagos SWAN Sport Week would be revealed at the press conference which will hold on Friday, 26 November, 2021.
