The International Table Tennis Foundation (ITTF) has highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion in inspiring a more inclusive society worldwide.

Speaking at the 2025 World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) Main Celebration in Nairobi, Kenya, ITTF President Petra Sörling emphasized the need to integrate people from various backgrounds, ensuring everyone feels welcome, respected, and empowered to participate in table tennis.

Promoting Inclusion through Table Tennis

Sörling praised the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board’s decision to introduce a groundbreaking Mixed Team event for table tennis at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. She noted that diversity and inclusion are values that should be embraced every day, not just on World Table Tennis Day.

Collaboration With Vision Changers Kenya

The ITTF Foundation has collaborated with Vision Changers Kenya through its DBF programme, supporting their “Hope kwa Vijana Mtaani” project. This initiative has used table tennis as a tool for crime prevention, rehabilitation, and reintegration, benefiting over 880 youth and reducing juvenile offenses in local communities.

Community Engagement

The 2025 WTTD celebration in Nairobi featured a diverse programme, including inclusive table tennis tournaments, community challenge matches, and roundtable discussions on building inclusive communities through sports. The event showcased the power of table tennis to transform lives and communities, promoting diversity, inclusion, and social cohesion.

Impact and Legacy

The partnership between the ITTF Foundation and Vision Changers Kenya has demonstrated the potential of table tennis to drive positive change in communities. By amplifying the spirit of diversity and inclusion, the ITTF aims to inspire a more accepting society worldwide.
