Olasoju Adebayo Wins Isolo LCDA Chairmanship Election

The incumbent chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Olasoju Adebayo, has been declared the winner of the chairmanship election held on Saturday.

Adebayo, who is also the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 22,331 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Ladi Shonubi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Fasasi of the Labour Party (LP), who garnered 1,144 and 864 votes, respectively.

After casting his vote, Olasoju expressed high optimism for victory, saying, “I will be dedicating my triumph to the entire constituents, especially the electorate and my numerous supporters.” He assured that in the next four years, Isolo LCDA will record more developmental strides than they saw in his first term.

The APC also won all the councilorship seats in the LCDA, with Jamiu Ajose, Adeolu Ikugbayigbe, Nofisat Shobayo-Lawal, Idris Babatunde Amusa, Oni Yusuf, and Kehinde Ajala emerging victorious in their respective wards.

The Paramount Ruler of Isolo Kingdom, Oba Isa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi-Shekoni Mobadenle Arolagbade Alagbeji III, expressed satisfaction with the voting process and urged the winners to prioritize the welfare of the people and focus on infrastructural development.

 

Otunba Henry Ajomale, a member of the Governing Assembly Council (GAC), commended the electoral process and predicted a victory for the APC, saying, “Olasoju has done well to deserve re-election.” He urged the council boss to deepen democratic leadership in the grassroots.

The winners are expected to be issued certificates of return by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) in the coming days, ahead of their swearing-in ceremony, which is expected to take place not earlier than July 26, 2025.
