There is great excitement in the air as the ancient city of Ibadan once again lights up for the 2021 edition of the Ibadan Community Cup.
This was contained a release made available to the media by Mr Sunday Agunbiade, the Media Coordinator of the local fiesta, and signed by the Chairman of the Local organizing Community, Coach Kayode Ogunleye.
According to the release the CEO Kayog Sports International a member of Oyo F.A, is in conjunction with Oyo State Football Association putting together this royal rumble of soccer; that promises to be a spectacle like no other for the people of the ancient City of Ibadan.
There are 26 communities that has so far registered these include:
(1) Kubu Compound Ojaba, (2)Alu Sekere compound, popoyemoja, (3)Akinlawon Compound Eleta, (4) Ajiwedogun Compound, (5)Ololu Compound,Ode Aje, (6)Foko Community, (7)Aroro Arulogun, (8) Oganla Community, (9)Abaonde Community, (10)Abebi Community, (11)Kute Community, (12) Olodo Community.
Others are (13)Inalende Community, (14)Agugu Community, (15)Olubota Compound kudeti, (16)Odeyale Community, (17) lfeleye Community, (18)Oloosaoko Community, (19)lrepodun Alaja community, Moniya, (20)Okebadan Community, (21)Ayegun Community, (22) Ile Eleta compound, (23) Alake Academy Community, (24) Popoyemoja Community, (25)Oke Ado Community, (26) Odinjo Community.
The organisers of the competition in the statement revealed that communities, can contact any member of the committee for registration and picking of forms. Members of the committee include Coach Ayodeji Adeyemi Charles, Coach Abiodun Lawal Udi, Coach Musiliu Sanusi and Sunday Agunbiade.
The statement further noted that the closing date for registration has been extended to 5th of November, 2021 to accommodate more Compounds(Agboole) for the much anticipated contest.
The maiden edition of the Ibadan Community Cup was won by Irepodun Alaja community, Moniya. After defeating Olodo community in a nerve wrecking penalty shootout that ended 10-9 in the latter’s favour.
