Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has thrown his full weight behind Nasarawa United FC despite ending the first stanza of the League outside of the top ten.
The Governor disclosed this immediately after the Solid Miners’ 1-0 away loss to Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Sports Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday, 20th March, 2022.
Expressing his feelings on the Club’s official WhatsApp platform, Governor Sule said,
“Fantastic job Eche! Nice to keep us on the edge at every minute.
“A few improvements: We didn’t allow a goal in the first 5 minutes. We fought like there was no tomorrow until 90+3′.
“A tough away game where the home team must justify all the investment in the stadium we held the ball and put up a strong defense.”
He expressed optimism that the team will pick up during the second phase of the league.
“I believe after the short break we will come back stronger. Congratulations, guys!”, he appreciated.
The Governor’s disposition was hailed by the Club’s Chairman, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi(Dan Moren Karu), who said it was a morale booster and a call to change the status quo.
“We are so appreciative to His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, for always standing by the team.
“His fatherly disposition is what keeps us pushing forward and this gives us assurance that better days are awaiting us.
“By the grace of God, the era of transition is over. At this time last season, we were hovering between first and second spot on the league table, however, we can still turn around the situation and redeem our image.
“We thank the Governor for his patience, moral and financial supports, and I want to assure him that we will do all it takes to make him and the State people happy.”
Nasarawa United, like the other nineteen clubs, will embark on a two-week break, beginning from Monday, 21st March, and resume with a double header on 3rd and 6th April, 2022, against Shooting Stars and Heartland, respectively,at home.
