National President, Football Fans Club of Nigeria, FFCN, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa has congratulated Nigeria’s U-17 Women’s team, Flamingoess for winning Bronze medals at the recently concluded FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Mama Nigeria as Ogunfuwa is fondly called described the girls as a true and worthy ambassadors who fought gallantly to scale far above olympian heights.
Speaking through the National Media Officer of the CAF award winning Supporters Club, Sunday Agunbiade, the graduate of English of the University of Lagos said:
“On behalf of the entire members of Football Fans Club of Nigeria, FFCN, I congratulate the nation’s U-17 team, the Flamingoes on the feat recorded winning Bronze medals for Nigeria at the recently concluded FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India”
These girls, no doubt have made history for Nigeria as they have set the templates for others to follow. Kudos must also be given to Olowookere led technical crew and backroom staff for the job well done .The NFF has made the land mark achievement beating the so called World beaters”.
She added: “Beating Germany and USA in the same tournament is not a child’s play and this will boost the confidence of other women’s teams either junior or senior national teams to emulate and surpass the records. This would not have been made possible without the efforts of the NFF and we appreciate them greatly. These girls are truly worthy ambassadors of our dear nation, Nigeria and they should not be discard for any reason” .The joyful matriarch appealed.
Nigeria defeated Germany 4-2 on penalty shootouts at the third place of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup held in Ìndia after playing 3-3 draw at regulation time.
