A new initiative aimed at promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development among young people in Mushin, Lagos, has been launched under the theme “Build the Youth, Build the Nation.”
The campaign initiated by YETI Youth Empowerment Foundation, seeks to address growing concerns of violence, unemployment, and social unrest among youths in the community.
The initiative according to Nkechi Uzoegwu, Founder of the foundation seeks to: “Engages young people through dialogues, vocational training, mentorship programs, and civic education designed to channel their energy into productive ventures and nation-building activities”.
Stakeholders, including community leaders, local government authorities, NGOs, and youth influencers, have thrown their weight behind the campaign.
The initiative has recorded promising results, with increased youth participation in community projects, decreased cases of gang-related conflicts, and a renewed sense of purpose among participants. Parents and residents have expressed appreciation for the program, noting its role in promoting harmony and security in the area.
As the initiative gains momentum, plans are underway to replicate its model across other inner-city communities in Lagos and beyond.
