Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has congratulated the Bayelsa Queens on their triumph in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
The team emerged champions after a 4-1 victory over Naija Ratels in the Super Six playoffs.
The Prosperity Girls finished the season with 10 points from five matches, clinching the league title for a record sixth time. Governor Diri praised the team’s tenacity, saying they were worthy champions, having maintained an unbeaten run throughout the regular season.
The Governor commended the Commissioner for Sports, Daniel Igali, Coach Ogbonda Whyte, the technical crew, and the players for their outstanding performance. He urged the team not to rest on their laurels as they prepare to represent Nigeria in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Governor Diri announced plans for a formal reception for the victorious team, charging them to remain focused on their assignment ahead.
The Bayelsa Queens will represent Nigeria in the CAF Women’s Champions League, seeking to conquer the continent.
