…Includes Three New Award Categories
The long and much awaited names of awardees for this year’s edition of the iconic Sportsville Special Recognition Award will be made public on Wednesday in Lagos.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Adekunle Salami, disclosed this on Monday night.
“Yes, all is now set for this important aspect of the award, making the list public. I am excited about the quality of personalities that made the cut this year. In all we have 21 nominees in five different categories.” The seasoned journalist stated.
The man affectionately called Slam went on to explain that, among the new additions are:
• The Most Innovative Person of the Year
• The Integrity Person of the Year
• The Coach, Player and Media Officer of the year for the NPFL.
These additions, Mr Salami, who is the Group Sports Editor of Daily Telegraph, said is to reinvigorate and add some fillips to the Awards with components that are critical to Nigerian Sports development.
“We need innovative ideas to develop our sports as well as people of integrity to drive this. And if we must make a bold statement in football for example, we must pay attention to the domestic League.” He stressed.
“The above ideals are what motivated us to bring these categories on board, and in years to come, Nigerians will appreciate why those spearheading these aspects of our sports development need to be appreciated and honoured.” He concluded.
This year’s SV Recognitions Awards which is the fourth in the series holds on Friday March 1st, 2024 at Eko Club in Surulere. Eko Club was selected because of it’s serenity, top class facilities and friendly services.
