With just three days to go, Nigeria is gearing up to host the second edition of the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon, scheduled to take place on December 6, 2025.
Organizers are expecting a strong contingent of elite long-distance athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, and other nations to arrive in the country ahead of the highly anticipated event.
According to officials, the event is on track to deliver a world-class experience for both elite and community runners, with city infrastructure, race routes, and volunteer logistics being finalized.
The event has earned its official World Athletics label for the second edition, a testament to the organizers’ ambition to position Abuja as a major hub on Africa’s long-distance running map.
“The participation of elite long-race runners will intensify competition and elevate the standard of the event,” said officials. “This move is expected to galvanize Nigeria’s growing road-race culture and inspire upcoming local talents.”
The event is expected to be a landmark day in Nigeria’s athletics calendar, with officials planning to conduct formal route tours and final prep checks before the big day.
