Amb Lucky Yargwa Returns To Official Duties Immediately After Festive Period

Year 2023 may just have started, but Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, thinks the festive period holidays are over, and there’s no need procrastinating on embarking on official assignments in line with the mandate of his office.

On Thursday, 5th January, 2023, the Commissioner presided over an emergency critical stakeholders meeting with participants drawn from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Ministry of Works/Housing/Transport, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance, and Bureau For Public Procurement.

The meeting focused on the state of the Lafia City Stadium and the position of the contractor handling the project, Mr. Mike Adamu, CEO of Reform Sports West Africa, who was present to answer pertinent questions.

After a lengthy interface, the Contractor assured to complete the renovation works on the Stadium before the end of February, 2023, and opened for use to sportsmen and women, especially the two State-owned football Clubs, Nasarawa United and Nasarawa Amazons, who both play in the elite domestic Nigeria Premier Football League and Nigeria Women’s Football League, respectively.

On Saturday, 7th January, the Commissioner, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, successfully chaired the launching of Wamba Dictionary, a 24-paged lexicon, at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK.

The event which was attended by students who are indigenes of Wamba and other invited guests, was the brainchild of Wamba Students’ Association, NSUK Chapter, headed by Comr. Muhammad Awal Musa.

The Commissioner commended the Association for nurturing and birthing the project, describing it as noble and a beautiful nostalgia to their roots.

He said culture is the identity of a people and that those who undermine it are lost and could be exposed to danger without any help from their kinsmen in times of need.

 

Yargwa appreciated the Management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, for providing enabling environment for students to identity and promote their cultures while acquiring basic knowledge.

He called on parents and other critical stakeholders to inculcate their culture and values to their children in order to sustain trans-generational transmission and continuity and to avoid extinction of same.

Yargwa donated funds as part of his contribution to the sustenance of the Association’s vision and mission, and called on other well-meaning sons and daughters of Wamba to follow suit.

Local Wamba dishes were served to participants at the Event.

The 24-paged Dictionary contains words and names written in major Wamba Ethnic languages and translated into English language for easier understanding.

The Ethnic languages include Rindre, Arum, Kantana, Buh and Kulere.

Finally, the Commissioner attended a high-powered stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the Secretariat of Wamba Local Government Area on Sunday, 8th January, 2023.

The occasion was to inaugurate the leadership of the Local Government Area Chapter of the Governor Abdullahi Sule Campaign Council in the party’s bid to galvanize support for the re-election of the Governor in the forthcoming general elections and other party flag bearers for the House of Assembly, Federal House of Representatives, Senatorial and Presidential posts respectively.

The APC flag bearer, Nasarawa Northern Senatorial District, Halilu Envulanza, also attended the meeting.
