Okota and Oke-Afa emerged zone champions in the semi-finals of the Yinka Alausa City Boys Cup 2026, with both matches decided on penalties at the MKO Abiola Mini Stadium in Jakande Estate, Ejigbo LCDA.

In the Isolo Zone clash, Okota edged Ishaga–Ire Akari 4–3 in a penalty shootout after regulation play. Oke-Afa similarly prevailed 5–4 on penalties against Ifoshi to claim the Ejigbo Zone title.

Coach Bamisaiye Aderemi of Okota praised his side’s composure under pressure, while Oke-Afa’s Coach Suleiman Shobajo highlighted his players’ determination and winning mentality.

The tournament, organized under the APC Oshodi–Isolo Federal Constituency II Championship and tagged the Yinka Alausa City Boys Cup 2026, has brought together teams from all 13 wards. Organizers say the competition aims to strengthen youth engagement, grassroots mobilization, and community unity through football.

The grand finale, originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed due to APC House of Representatives screening activities taking place in Abuja on May 9 and 10. Sponsor of the championship, Hon. Dr. Yinka Rasheed Alausa, an aspirant for Oshodi–Isolo Federal Constituency II in 2027, is participating in the screening.

A new date for the 3rd Place Match and Grand Finale will be announced during the week, pending the official APC party schedule, but before the party primary election.

Speaking on the motivation for the tournament, Hon. Alausa said the initiative was created to fill a gap in constituency-level sporting events that unite Ejigbo and Isolo.

“There was no constituency football competition or any major yearly sporting event bringing Ejigbo and Isolo together. I saw a big vacuum that had been neglected over the years, so I came up with this initiative to boost electoral participation, youth engagement, and community unity through football,” he said.

The championship has already begun to generate activity across Oshodi–Isolo Federal Constituency II, with organizers noting increased grassroots participation and cross-community engagement.
